Plan before you start

Use a manual save before leaving each major area. The optional investigations are easiest to clean up while their locations and puzzle items are still accessible.

Investigate instead of guessing. Clue links award progression resources and several achievements are tied directly to completing named cases.

Keep the achievement overlay available. Steam exposes all 23 unlocks, making it easier to confirm which optional objectives still need attention.

The eight investigation achievements

The early cases are The Inheritance, The Other Gods, The Red Press and The Siren's Call. They cover the apartment wall safe, church mystery, printing press and Devil's Reef Hotel.

The later cases are The Whisperers, The Vault, The Drowned and The Damned. They are found across Akeley Hospital and the Fish Market chapter.

Solve each case before moving on. Their rewards include Dream Essence, weapon parts and safer progression—not only achievement credit.

Exploration and combat cleanup

Behind Every Crate Man requires every base-game E.R.C. crate in one playthrough. DLC crates are excluded, so use a chapter checklist and do not rely on a later partial cleanup.

Weapon-related achievements reward trying the full arsenal. Keep at least one save with ammunition for each weapon instead of spending all rare rounds on a single boss.

Story achievements unlock naturally. Avoid reading their hidden descriptions if you want to preserve late-game surprises.

New Game Plus

Ex Oblivione is the intended second-pass mode. It carries Talents forward and adds eight purple documents connected to the From Oblivion achievement.

Use the second run for anything still missing. With the campaign route learned and Talents carried over, optional combat and collectible cleanup is faster and safer.
